Mini has revealed the 2013 John Cooper Works Countryman. The new Mini John Cooper Works Countryman will use the engine already available in the Mini Cooper, Cooper Convertible, Clubman, Cooper Roadster and Cooper Coupe. The 2013 Countryman John Cooper Works will also get suspension upgrades by Mini’s in house tuner. If you’re looking to have some fun offroad rally-style, the John Cooper Works Mini Countryman might be your best choice.
All Mini John Cooper Works Countryman models will be all-wheel drive. Manual transmission will be standard and automatic will be available. Like the standard Countryman, the JCW Countryman will be available with either two rear captain’s chairs or a rear bench seat for four or five person seating, according to Autoblog.
Power for the 2013 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman will come from the familiar 218-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter engine. The engine makes 207 lb-ft of torque normally but the overboost capability can jump that to 221 lb-ft for a short time. The 2013 Mini Countryman John Cooper Works edition will get a new rear axle, better brakes, stronger anti-roll bars and a 10-mm lower ride height than the standard Mini Countryman.
Don’t get too excited about your rallying possibilities with the JCW Countryman, in addition to the almost half inch of drop, the Countryman John Cooper Works will get a more aggressive front bumper that will restrict offroad shenanigans even more. Oh well, you can just pull it off and put an skid plate in if you decide to take the Countryman John Cooper Works too far off the beaten path.
