Will.i.am recently bought a McLaren MP4-12C, one of the most beautiful and powerful supercars available today. The rapper has a history of cool cars, so it’s not a huge surprise that he’d have a supercar, and given his oddball car history, it’s fitting that he wouldn’t pick a run of the mill Lamborghini or Ferrari (how embarrassing would it be to pull up to an awards show and see another artist with the same car?).
Speaking of oddball cars, Will.i.am is trying to start a car company with his own custom cars for sale, called IAMAUTO. Will.i.am’s self-designed car looks like it is a custom body on top of a Delorean, but the Will claims that it is actually a full custom that kept only a few actual Delorean pieces. Jalopnik asked Will.i.am what powered the car, and while he didn’t go into specifics, he said that the engine is not the 130-hp V6 boat anchor that the original cars were stuck with.
Will.i.am rose to celebrity with the Black Eyed Peas, and his newest single, Reach for the Stars, was the first song broadcast from another planet when the Curiosity rover beamed it from Mars to earth.
