Tom Daley, Britain’s 17-year-old diving star, was given a Mini Cooper on his birthday by Mini. The Cooper also came with a trip to Mini’s driving school for Tom, which came in handy because he didn’t have his license yet. The Mini, which is a One D model not available in the United States, (and that’s a shame, Mini claims 74-mpg) starts at £14,540 (about $23,000 U.S).
According to The AFP, Tom Daley was harassed on Twitter after losing his synchronized dive event to the Chinese team. Tom’s twitter bully was arrested by British police, presumably under the “no being mean” statute their laws must have (or is it lawes? I never know where they’re going to add vowels).
According to Tom, the Mini is a great gift because of his constant traveling to the pool. Also according to Tom, the Chinese have the luxury of not being allowed to go to school and instead get to train three times a day. Boy I wish I were lucky enough to be pulled out of school and forced into laborious training away from my family and friends in the hopes of earning a medal that I can pawn in ten years for the same amount of money one of those losers who went to school makes in a month.
