Jason Kidd crashed his Cadillac Escalade in New York on Sunday after attending a fundraiser in East Hampton. Kidd told police that he had a few drinks before he lost control of his Escalade and crashed, splitting a phone pole in half and destroying the vehicle. Kidd was left mostly unhurt by the crash and was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. According to the Daily News the New York Knicks point guard will get a DWI for his crash.
Hopefully Jason Kidd has insurance. His Escalade looks like it will probably be a total loss after the spectacular wreck, which one 15-year veteran NYPD officer told the NY Daily News “I can’t believe Jason Kidd actually survived that. When I see an accident that bad, I expect at least serious injury, if not death.”
Replacing his SUV with a new one will cost Jason Kidd at least $63,170, which is what the 2013 Cadillac Escalade starts at. Maybe Kidd should try something with a little bit more of a handling pedigree than the GM truck-based luxury SUV. A 2013 BMW X6 starts at $59,800 and the 2013 Porsche Cayenne starts at $55,750. Although, if I has just walked away with a few scrapes from a crash that catastrophic, you’d have a hard time convincing me to buy anything besides an Escalade for the rest of my life.
Alternate pun titles also better than the NY Daily News’ “Holy Scrap”:
