Audi has announced that the sporty versions of the A6 and A7 midsized sedans, the 2013 S6 and 2013 S7, will be available this fall in dealerships. The S6 and S7 will use the same turbocharged engine and adjustable suspension to give the executive sedans a much sportier feel.
The 2013 Audi S6 and 2013 Audi S7 will be powered by a turbocharged 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 with 420-hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. That turbocharger has a twin-scroll setup for quicker spooling and less turbo lag. All S6 and S7 models will have a seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with a rear differential that sends power to either of the two rear wheels for better performance. Audi claims the S6 will do 0-60-mph in 4.1 seconds and the heavier S7 will do it in 4.2.
The S6 and S7 will also get an adjustable air suspension that can be manually set to compliment your driving style, or lack thereof. Audi’s Drive Select system can be set to auto, dynamic, comfort and individual and will adjust the suspension, steering assist,
Audi’s S6 and S7 will also have cylinder deactivation which can run the engine on four cylinders when extra power isn’t needed. European models get start-stop technology but because the U.S. EPA doesn’t offer any incentive on the mileage rating for that, our cars won’t get it.
Audi is also planning an RS6 and RS7 for the U.S. which should have around 500 horsepower and will compete with the M5 and E63 AMG, according to Autoweek.
