BMW has released images of the new 2013 3-Series Sports Wagon. The 3-Series Sports Wagon will go on sale in the U.S. in Spring 2013. Europe gets the new 5-door Bimmer later this year.
The 2013 BMW 3-Series Sports Wagon will compete with the Cadillac CTS wagon. Audi doesn’t currently offer an A4 Avant (their term for wagons) in the states and Mercedes-Benz doesn’t import the 5-door C-Class.
The 2013 BMW 3-Series, the first after the newest redesign of the venerable 3-Series, will be a little bit larger than the last version. The 2013 3-Series wagon’s track will be 1.46 inches wider in front, 1.85 inches wider in rear. The newest BMW wagon will also be 3.66 inches longer and have a 1.96 inch longer wheel base than the old model. BMW says that the 2013 3-Series Sport Wagon’s extra size will result in ten percent more cargo room, something that will come in common when you’re cross shopping SUVs.
BMW says that it will be offering Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line versions of the 2013 3-Series. An M-Sport version of the 3-Series Sport Wagon will be offered so that you can claim you would have bought the M3 wagon if only they had built it for you, even though you know they’re never going to build it. The CTS-V Wagon will probably keep that market cornered for a long time.
