Mercedes-Benz has revised the G-Class SUV for 2013. The revisions for Mercedes’ iconic offroader are few and far between, but that is to be expected. The G-Class is in the same category as the Porsche 911 or Jeep Wrangler – vehicles that are so easily recognizable that to redesign them would actually anger fans and customers. So you’ll be forgiven if the boxy G-Wagon doesn’t jump out at you as the new 2013 model at first glance.
There is an easy way to tell if the G-Class you’re looking at is a 2012 or a 2013 though. For next year’s models, Mercedes has added a row of LED lights below the headlights, as is the current fashion. The side-view mirrors and bumpers have also been redesigned.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class also gets a reworked interior (that’s the part you can change at will without angering purists). For next year, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class gets a new center console and instrument panel.
What’s exciting about next year’s G-Class is the addition of two new high performance AMG models to the lineup. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 with 544-hp and 560 lb.-ft of torque. Since 544 is not quite at supercar level power, there is also an insanely powerful 2013 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG with a twin-turbo V12 making 612-hp and 737 lb.-ft of torque.
