Men are honestly pretty simple creatures. We are in constant competition with each other and make most of our decisions accordingly. There are obviously exceptions to the rule, and everyone will choose their own battle, but one thing is for sure: a lot of guys measure themselves with their cars. So it’s no surprise that a lot of cars are built specifically to be used as measuring sticks.
92.2% of all BMW 1-Series M owners are male
Spending a lot of money on a car designed to go speeds most people don’t have the courage (or stupidity) to reach on public roads is a very masculine thing to do. The evidence: this list compiled by Polk and brought to us by Inside Line that details the top ten cars that are most likely to be owned by men. Like the list of the most feminine cars (which was crossover heavy, believe it or not) these aren’t the most popular cars with men, they are just the ones with the highest percentage of male buyers.
- Ferrari 458 Italia – 95.3% male
- BMW 1 Series M Coupe – 92.2% male
- Audi R8 – 91.4% male
- Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG – 90.0% male
- Ferrari California – 88.4% male
- Porsche 911 – 88.25% male
- Nissan GT-R – 87.9% male
- GMC Sierra – 87.5% male
- Ford F-Series – 87.0% male
- Chevrolet Corvette – 86.9% male
While the list of most feminine cars was topped by the Volvo S40 with a 57.9% chance of being owned by a woman, the masculine cars list showed that these vehicles are really unpopular with women.
