Jeep showed off a blacked out 2012 Grand Cherokee at the Houston Auto Show earlier this year and afterwards held an online contest to pick a name, eventually landing on Altitude. The murdered out SUV was so popular that Jeep decided to make it a production model and add Altitude versions of the Compass and Patriot as well.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, which is the obvious flagship of the trim group (don’t be surprised to see more Jeep models, specifically the Wrangler, in Altitude forms) comes with a glossy black grill, black head lamp bezels, a black liftgate bar and 20-inch gloss-black wheels. The Grand Cherokee Altitude also features heated leather seats and a 506-watt, nine-speaker audio system. The Altitude will be available in Deep Cherry Red, Brilliant Black, Mineral Gray, Bright Silver, Maximum Steel and Stone White and will start at $35,595.
The Jeep Compass Altitude has a gloss black grill and roof rack with 18-inch gloss black wheels. Heated seats come standard on the Compass Altitude, which starts at $22,190.
The Patriot Altitude isn’t quite as blacked out as the Grand Cherokee and Compass. In addition to the blacked out grill and wheels, the Jeep Patriot Altitude, which starts at $20,240, will have chrome and polished steel added to the front fascia and roof rack, according to Left Lane News.
