Chevrolet has revealed the new Chevy Cruze wagon at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and in addition to giving buyers another option in the small wagon market, it looks good. Giving the small wagon buying public an American choice, and not a retro one, the new Cruze wagon will add utility to Chevy’s second smallest car.
The 2013 Chevy Cruze wagon will have a 17.6 cubic-foot trunk with the rear seats in place. When you fold the seats flat, the storage room is 52.9 inches long, according to Autoblog.
The four-foot, five-inch cargo area isn’t quite enough to sleep comfortably in, but as anyone who’s spent the night in a small sedan can tell you (your writer included) that extra space would turn a contortionist’s nightmare into a good night’s sleep. In fact, if you fold the front seat forward and used it as a back rest I’d imagine you could stretch out pretty well.
Chevrolet has no plans to bring the Chevy Cruze wagon and its sleeping accommodations to the United States right now, but with the SUV backlash in full force and gas threatening to climb again this summer (like it does every summer) I wouldn’t be too surprised if we see these sitting on Chevrolet lots in the near future, stealing buyers from the Equinox.
