The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has been completely redesigned. Nissan revealed the new 2013 Pathfinder at the Detroit auto show.
Motor Trend claims that the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine, smaller than the 4.0-liter unit in the current generation Pathfinder. That extra engine size won’t be missed though. Since the 2013 Pathfinder will use a unibody construction, it will weigh 500 lbs less. Nissan says that the weight savings combined with a more aerodynamic body and an all-wheel drive system that can be put into two-wheel drive mode will allow the 2013 Pathfinder to get 25 percent better fuel economy than the current generation.
Nissan’s new all-wheel drive system can also be locked into four-wheel drive mode, with all four wheels receiving equal power for off-road traction. Of course, anybody looking to do serious off-roading will buy the body-on-frame Xterra with its true four-wheel drive system instead, but the Pathfinder’s all-wheel drive system should help some buyers get out of the snow quickly and to work on time.
The V6 engine in the 2013 Pathfinder will most likely be the same as the one from the upcoming Infiniti JX35, which makes 265-hp and 248 lb-ft of torque.
