Chrysler has revealed the 2013 Dodge Dart, and it will be the first Chrysler vehicle based on an Alfa Romeo platform. The 2013 Dart will offer three different engines with up to 184-horsepower. The 2013 Dart is completely new to the US. Dodge has not released fuel economy ratings for the new Dart, but expect it to get close to the 40-mpg mark with the right combination of engine and transmission.
Styling wise, the Dart is a hit. Ignoring the current trend of flame surfacing and instead landing on a more traditional sedan look, the Dart still looks modern, with a rear light bar inspired by the new Dodge Charger. The 2013 Dart’s front end doesn’t toe the line quite as closely as the now dead Caliber’s did, but is still recognizable as a Dodge with the corporate crosshair grill. The Dart’s lines also remind me of the Neon’s with a high rear and and low front end, a stance that is oddly rare in the small car segment.
The 2013 Dodge Dart will be available with three engines, a 160-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 160-hp, a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 160-hp, or a 184-hp 2.4-liter four. The 2013 Dart will also have three different transmissions available, a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic and a six-speed dual clutch transmission.
