The 2013 Cadillac ATS, Cadillac’s new model that will slot below the CTS in both size and price, will be available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine when it goes on sale next year. The ATS will have three different engines, but the most exciting in the rear-wheel drive sedan will be the turbocharged four-cylinder with 270-hp.
The 2013 Cadillac ATS will debut next month at the North American International Auto Show, but GM has announced the engines that will be available in the entry level luxury sedan. The base engine will be a 190-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder, the same as is currently found in the Chevy Malibu according to Kicking Tires. The middle engine will be the 2.0-liter turbo four that makes 270-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The top of the line engine will be Cadillac’s direct injected 3.6-liter V6 that currently makes 318-hp in the CTS. While the turbocharged four-cylinder isn’t the most powerful engine out of the box, the ease with which tuners are upping the horsepower on turbo engines means that it will easily eclipse the power of the V6 with just a tune and an intake.
Cadillac says that the 270-hp four cylinder Cadillac ATS will be available with both automatic and manual transmissions.
