Car and Driver has released its annual 10 Best Cars list, and the best cars of this year are very similar to the best cars from last year. Car and Driver limits the list of eligible vehicles to those that are all new or significantly different from the 2011 models and those that were on last year’s list, because all of the eligible 10 best are actually tested by Car and Driver and testing every single car every year would be insane, not to mention pointless.
Car and Driver’s 10 Best Cars list for 2012:
2012 Audi A6 and A7
2012 BMW 3-Series
2012 Cadillac CTS-V
2012 Ford Focus
2012 Ford Mustang GT
2012 Honda Accord
2012 Honda Fit
2012 Mazda MX-5
2012 Porsche Boxster and Cayman
2012 Volkswagen Golf and GTI
Nobody will be surprised to learn that the BMW 3-Series and Honda Accord are on this year’s list, and the rest of the list is almost as unsurprising. Car and Driver’s love of sporty cars shows through in the 10 Best list, the only non sporty cars are the Ford Focus, Honda Fit and Honda Accord. Eight of last year’s winners are returning for 2012. The Ford Focus and Audi A6 and A7 are the two new winners, replacing the Hyundai Sonata and Chevy Volt.
