The UAW has released its annual list of every new car on sale in America built by union workers. The UAW counts all 2012 vehicles built by the UAW and CAW. The list is predictably dominated by American car companies, though there are two Japanese brands and one European brand on the list.
Chrysler builds all three of its current vehicles with union workers. The 2012 Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, the Dodge Avenger, Dodge Caliber, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango, Dodge Grand Caravan, Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Wrangler and Ram 1500 are all built by union workers.
GM’s brands also build the majority of their vehicles with union workers. The 2012 Buick Enclave, Buick LaCrosse, Buick Regal, Buick Verano, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Acadia, GMC Savana, GMC Terrain, GMC Yukon, GMC Canyon and GMC Sierra are all union-built. Versions of the Sierra and Silverado are built in Mexico.
Ford, along with its sole subsidiary Lincoln, builds 17 different vehicles with union workers. The Ford Edge, Ford Escape, Ford Escape Hybrid, Ford E-Series Van, Ford Expedition, Ford Explorer, Ford Flex, Ford Focus, Ford Mustang, Ford Taurus, Ford F-150, Ford F-250 Super Duty, Ford F-350 Super Duty, Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT, Lincoln MKX and Lincoln Navigator are all built by the UAW and CAW.
The 2012 Mazda 6 is built by UAW workers.Mitsubishi builds three separate vehicles with UAW workers. The 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse, Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and Mitsubishi Galant are all union-built cars.
Volkswagen is the only European brand with a vehicle on the list of union built vehicles because the VW Routan minivan is built alongside the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan
