Fans of the new 2012 Toyota Tacoma design can now get more information on a limited-edition Tacoma truck that got shown off September 29 at the 2011 Texas State Fair. This truck is called the Tacoma Toyota Racing Development or TRD, Tacoma Extreme (or T/X) Baja, and features a series of changes meant to enhance the truck’s off-road capabilities. This limited edition model name is quite a mouthful, and represents some significant unique engineering for helping this truck perform anywhere it happens to be.
The 2012 Tacoma TRD T/X Baja truck gets Bilstein racing shocks, 60mm on the front and 50mm on the back, which leads to an inch and a half increase in wheel travel for some of the bumpy tracks off-roaders might visit in this high-performance vehicle. The truck will run on a 4 liter V6 engine with a six speed manual or five speed automatic transmission. As for new driving technology, the Tacoma TRD T/X Baja will get active traction control, hill start assist and downhill assist features, as well as a modified exhaust system, off-road wheels and more for outfitting this tough terrain racer.
As part of the new 2012 Toyota Tacoma line, the TRD T/X Baja will also get a substantial redesign. For this model year, Toyota restyled the hood and grille of the truck, along with the front bumper and headlights. There’s also an updated interior with a central instrument cluster, more AC controls and a restyled steering wheel. Other interior changes include a new look for the center console, with new door trim also added to the new truck.
Even for those who don’t select a limited-edition off-road truck, the 2012 Toyota Tacoma promises a great deal of new comfort and convenience features for the road ahead. If you’re in the market for this popular brand truck, make sure you have access to some of the best new deals including incentives, cash rebates and low-interest financing offers to get the most out of your Toyota Tacoma purchase for a new 2012 model.
