BMW is offering performance engine tuning kits for the twin-turbo six-cylinder BMW 135i, 335i and X6. These engine tuning kits give the 335i, 135i and X6 an extra 20-hp over the 300 the cars come with stock according to BMW, bringing the 335i’s horsepower in line with the 335is. Since there is no 335is offered with the 320-hp power package from the factory, this Power Kit will give you the most power possible fully covered under warranty. Torque is increased to 332 lb-ft on automatic transmission models and 317 lb-ft with the manual or DCT transmissions.
The engine tuning kit is actually the Version 1 Power Kit and is available on the 2008-2011 BMW 135i, 2007-2011 BMW 335i and the 2010 BMW X6 built up to April 2010. BMW is also offering a Version 2 Power Kit, which adds and auxiliary water cooler and a stronger radiator fan. The Version 2 Power Kit is only available on the 135i and 335i.
BMW claims that the Power Kits result in a 0.2 second faster 0-60 time on the 335i and a 0.5 second faster 50-75 mph time. BMW isn’t advertising the acceleration increases on the 135i, but expect them to be a little bit more than the 335i’s thanks to the 1-Series’ lower weight.
