Toyota is hawking the new style of the 2012 Toyota Yaris as this subcompact sits poised to appear on dealer’s lots around the country. The 2012 Yaris will continue to compete in this very important market segment, while many customers see the value of choosing a reliable car with a smaller footprint.
The 2012 Yaris will utilize a liftback body style, with MacPherson struts in front and a rear torsion-beam suspension system providing a comfortable ride. The wheelbase will be increased by two inches, giving the car a little more size; this new design will be available as a three-door or five-door model, with a sport-tuned trim as an additional option. Toyota says all trims for the 2012 Yaris have more standard features built in, and the company is touting this car as a modern ride built for “fun and functionality.” Many customers will find that the new Yaris proves a subcompact car doesn’t have to sacrifice style or road presence.
Toyota says the 2012 Yaris will run on a 1.5L 4-cylinder block with VVT (variable valve timing) that will produce just over 100 horsepower, enough for this small frame. All models will come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission; a manual option will be available only for some trims.
As for safety, the “big boys” at Toyota’s design stations have put a whole lot of new gear into the Yaris to prove that the smaller car can keep everyone inside safe. This includes ABS, as well as stability and traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, and brake assist. There’s even something called a “whiplash injury lessening” feature for front seats, something likely to help with some of the most common minor road injuries; a panoply of airbags rounds out the safety design for this top-shelf subcompact.
Look for more on the 2012 Toyota Yaris as these cars become available near you, and take advantage of all rebates, sales and financing offers the manufacturer concedes as “grand opening” incentives for this model year.
