Mike Comrie, a hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins and husband of Hilary Duff, defaulted on a Mercedes-Benz CL550 loan in late 2010. In addition to being a talented professional athlete, a millionaire, married to a beautiful movie star who is now carrying his baby and driving a much cooler car than I ever will, he doesn’t bother to pay his bills (Comrie made $500,000 for last year’s season, if he wanted to pay off the CL550, he could). It’s not hard to hate somebody like that.
According to TMZ, Comrie was sued in October 2010 for defaulting on the loan for his 2009 Mercedes-Benz CL550. Soon after his marriage to Hilary Duff, Comrie was sued by the finance company that financed his car, which claimed that when they attempted to repossess the CL550, Comrie refused to give it back.
The Mercedes-Benz CL550 is powered by a 4.6-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that makes 429 horsepower and has a 0-60-mph time of just 4.8 seconds. The 2011 CL550 (shown above) starts at $114,100, so if you, like Mike Comrie, decided to finance a new CL550, your monthly payments would be $1,985 with a 10% down payment and a 60 month loan with a 6% interest rate.
