Toyota fans are reporting that the Japanese auto maker is offering bits of information about the newly styled 2012 Toyota Camry due to hit the market this fall in both conventional and hybrid models. The Camry is a car that has stomped all over the competition for years, a car that shows up all over American streets and gets snapped up on dealer’s lots. Just looking at the price tags for pre-owned Camry models next to prices for other brands gives buyers an idea of how well this classic best-seller holds its resale value. Now, Toyota is pumping the new generation of Camry to help this vehicle compete with stylish challengers in the sedan segment. Although Toyota has held its own through the last few years, domestic makers like Ford, as well as dark horse competitors like Hyundai, are all offering their own sleek, stylish cars for the American market.
In reports of the 2012 Camry design, staffers are saying that this new model will include the company’s new “Entune” comprehensive tech system that will allow Toyota cars to compete with Ford vehicles equipped with Ford’s SYNC hands-free dashboard machine, or others from various auto makers that understand how American drivers are flocking to cars with the newest bells and whistles. As for the style of the new 2012 Camry, posters on Carscoop, where a leaked video shows what’s purported to be the new Camry, have responded with words like “sculpted” and “chiseled,” lauding the car’s modern contours. Soon, the American audience will see exactly what this much-awaited car looks like, and how it offers more of what buyers look for in high-value Toyota vehicles. Despite reports that Toyota car sales may be lagging competitors in 2011 for reasons other than the Japan earthquakes and supply disruption, recent Camry models are still among the most popular cars for resale, and some model years are even near the top of the list for car thieves. Next year will reveal whether the Camry is still at the top of its game in 2012.
