Toyota is setting the record straight on the 2012 electric version of the Toyota Rav4: a July 19 press release straight from the Toyota newsroom shows that Toyota is definitely going to release its electric Rav4 EV model next year for the general public car buyer audience. Buyers will be able to get this compact crossover with electric functionality, for a vehicle that combines efficient use of space with unique style and presence.
Photo releases for the 2012 Toyota Rav4 show that the company is still pursuing its plan of offering a crossover vehicle that combines benefits of an SUV and a minivan. The squared-off hatchback access is reminiscent of minivan styling, but with a smaller footprint, the Rav4 is something that owners will be able to parallel park a little more easily. The visual design of the vehicle also provides an alternative to the “clunkiness” of conventional minivan design: although makers of family minivans have been refining their styles from the original boxy looks of classics like the 90s-era Dodge Caravan or the Chrysler Town and Country of years past, the crossover in general, and the 2012 Toyota Rav4 in particular, offers buyers a sleeker look for the road. Another plus is power: Industry reports show an available 3.5L 6-cylinder option for 2012 buyers, although, as some reviewers point out, the majority of drivers should be able to get around with the more popular 4-cylinder block just fine. Or, there’s the 2012 Rav4 EV, for alternative power that’s in line with what’s happening in today’s auto industry.
The unveiling of the electric 2012 Toyota Rav4 EV comes just in time to coincide with a “rising tide” of all-electric cars purchases. As charging stations start to pop up around the country (notable retailers like Best Buy are among businesses funding or promoting these handy power-up facilities) and AAA gets ready to provide the first-ever electric vehicle assistance trucks, the 2012 Toyota Rav4 EV represents one of two Toyota electric vehicle offerings for next year, along with the 2012 Toyota Scion EV, a smaller option. Look for the best local deals as both of these vehicles hit the market in 2012 and give modern buyers more options to help ease pain at the pump.
