Muscle car enthusiasts are getting ready for the unveiling of the 2012 Dodge Charter SRT model, a new trim for this car, and a design that offers some pretty impressive features. Perhaps the biggest headline for this car is its power: the 2012 model will run on a monster 6.4liter HEMI V8 engine throwing out 470 HP, a tremendous amount of power and up about 50 HP from the previous model year. This rear-power four-door is a reincarnation of the classic Dodge Charger that wowed crowds in decades past, and with some distinct style changes, it’s a sure bet that gearheads will be paying attention when the new models hit the market next year.
Despite the intense power of the V8 on the 2012 Charger SRT, this car is also made to allow drivers to use less fuel. A “four cylinder mode” actually switches the 2012 model into a leaner form of combustion for adding mpg when it’s necessary. Other features for this model year include a heated SRT steering wheel and mounted paddle shifters, as well as an “adaptive damping suspension” that allows for selectable suspension tuning. The 2012 Charger SRT also gets new safety and comfort features. Some of these include keyless entry, electronic stability control and something called “Ready Alert Braking” to help this car stop quickly. The 2012 model also gets many items related to modern on-board entertainment, like Sirius radio and Bluetooth, as well as available touch screen and voice command options, and a state of the art sound system.
Additional packages can add items like blind spot monitoring and other helpful technology for protecting what is a significant investment: according to SpeedTV.com, the price for the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT model has now been set at the high MSRP or $46,620. Considering what you get, though, many would say this elevated price tag is worth the expense.
