Scion has announced that the 2012 Scion xB will be available with Pandora Radio integration. xB owners will be able to control their Pandora station through a touch screen with their built in radio using an iPhone to connect to the Pandora service. Pandora, which creates radio stations based on a user’s initial input of a band, song or genre and then further tailors the songs it plays by giving the user the option to like with a thumb-up button, dislike with a thumb-down on likes, or skip a song, is free to use with advertising or can be subscribed to for one dollar per month.
One of the greatest times of my commuting life was when I discovered that my cell phone could stream Pandora and play through an auxiliary input in my car. Suddenly instead of being stuck with either the radio or my pathetic iTunes catalog, I could access the wonderful world of individually tailored radio while slogging through South Florida traffic.
Of course, if I wanted to change stations, skip a song or thumb-up or thumb-down a song, I had to use my phone’s clunky and tiny controls while driving. With the built in Pandora functionality in the 2012 Scion xB, you’ll have a 5.8-inch dashboard mounted touch screen to easily navigate the world of the Music Genome Project.
The optional Pandora capable sound system upgrade will also include iTunes tagging, a 200-watt stereo system and six RCA outputs to add additional amplifiers, according to Autoblog.
