2012 Dodge Charger SRT8
Chrysler has revealed the high performance SRT8 models that will be on sale for the 2012 model year. The 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8, 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 will all be available in Fall 2011.
2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8
The 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8, Dodge Charger SRT8 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 will all be powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine with 465-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. That’s 40 more horsepower and torque than the 6.1-liter V8 in the previous generation SRT8 vehicles. Chrysler says that in addition to the peak power increase, the new SRT8 Hemi will make 80 more lb-ft of torque at 2,900 RPM. All three of the 2012 SRT8 models will do 0.60 in under five seconds. All three will also complete the quarter mile in under 13 seconds, according to 0-60 Magazine.
The SRT8s aren’t just dragsters though, Chrysler says that the 300 and Charger SRT8 will stop from 60 in 120 feet and the Grand Cherokee SRT8 will surprisingly take just 116 feet. The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee also outperforms the cars on the skidpad, with Chrysler claiming .90 g for the SUV and .88 g on the 300 and Charger.
