The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu will be available in January 2012, four months earlier than the original launch date, according to internal memos that have surfaced. The 2013 Chevy Malibu will be officially unveiled April 18 live on Facebook.
Teaser shots have already been released that show the new Malibu’s tail lights, which mimic the new Camaro tail lights. Expect an updated interior along with the exterior changes. Chevrolet said in a press release that the new Malibu will be powered by a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine.
Chevrolet had planned to launch the 2013 Chevy Malibu in May of 2012, but according to Kicking Tires, plans have been made to accelerate production in order to launch the car four months early.
In 2010, the Malibu was GM’s best-selling vehicle. According to Kicking Tires, the Chevy Malibu is currently GM’s third best-selling car, behind the Cruze and the Impala, which competes in the same midsize sedan market as the Malibu. Part of Chevrolet’s decision to move up the 2013 Malibu’s launch may be that the current generation Malibu, which was redesigned for 2008, is outsold by the Impala, which was last redesigned in 2005.
The 2013 Chevy Malibu will make its official debut at the 2011 Shanghai auto show Monday, April 18 and will be revealed simultaneously on Facebook so check back then for full vehicle images and videos.
