The new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta isn’t as good as last year’s model, according to Consumer Reports. The 2011 Jetta was ranked last in small sedans in Consumer Reports’ latest test because of its lower quality interior and suspension.
The 2011 VW Jetta‘s interior and suspension have been “cheapened” in order to bring the cost down, according to Consumer Reports. The cheapened Jetta (shown above) was the worst car of the 11 tested, with complaints about the car’s agility, cornering grip, engine noise, braking, interior quality and gas mileage all bringing the score down. Consumer Reports did compliment the new 2011 VW Jetta, which can be leased for just $179 a month during April, on its trunk size and acceleration.
Consumer Reports lauded the 2011 Hyundai Elantra, making it the only small sedan to be recommended by the organization. To get a “Recommended” rating, a vehicle needs to score well in tests, have at least an average reliability rating and perform adequately in any safety tests that have been performed.
The 2011 Chevy Cruze was also complimented, but because Chevrolet changed the name, is too new to earn a “Recommended” rating because there is no data on the car’s reliability. Consumer Reports does not consider the Chevy Cobalt’s reliability scores when evaluating the Cruze. The Cruze was criticized for its relatively poor gas mileage. Consumer Reports observed just 26 mpg while testing the Cruze.
