The new 2011 Ford Fiesta is Ford’s newest entry to the compact car segment. With the 2011 Fiesta, Ford bucks the trend of stripped down compact cars and instead is focusing on creature comforts and economy. Available in both sedan and hatchback body styles, the Fiesta has been popular throughout the world, but the 2011 Fiesta is the first Fiesta to be sold in America since 1980. The Fiesta starts at $13,320 for a sedan and $15,120 for hatchback models.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta comes with Ford’s Sync system, which allows drivers to make calls, control the radio, get directions with traffic information, personal news updates and even hear text messages using voice controls. The Fiesta also features luxurious items usually found on more expensive vehicles like heated leather seats, push button start, Sirius satellite radio and an LCD screen.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 120-hp and 112 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Fiesta isn’t a speed demon, but with a six-speed automatic transmission it is rated at 29-mpg city and 38-mpg highway. The Fiesta’s 38-mpg rating puts it at the top of the compact car segment for gas mileage, and is pretty close to what more expensive hybrids get.
The Fiesta’s main competition comes from the Honda Fit, which also focuses on the driver’s comfort rather than bare-bones driving. The Fiesta also competes with the Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent, Nissan Versa, Mazda2 and Chevrolet Aveo in the compact car segment.
The Fiesta’s interior size is comparable to the other compact cars on sale right now. With 39.1 inches of front headroom and 37.2 inches of headroom in the back, the Fiesta will be comfortable for most drivers and passengers. The Fiesta has the best gas mileage rating of all 2011 compact cars and also has more horsepower than the competition.
