Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2012 SLK roadster. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK will be a hard-top convertible with a glass roof that can be switched from transparent to tinted in seconds. For the first time ever, the SLK will be available with a four-cylinder engine.
The highlight of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK is the new Magic Sky Control roof. The Magic Sky Control roof in the 2012 Mercedes SLK allows the driver to change the retractable glass roof’s transparency with the push of a button. The roof can be switched between light transparency to let in sunlight to dark transparency for privacy in seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz SLK has never been a hardcore sports car, leaving all-out performance to competitors while focusing more on driving comfort and enjoyment. The SLK’s dedication to comfortable motoring is still strong in the 2012 SLK. The 2012 Mercedes SLK will feature comforts like an air scarf that pumps warm air to the neck of the driver and passenger so that the top can be left down even in chilly weather and heat reflective leather seats that allow the SLK to be parked outside in the sun without burning the thighs of anyone wearing shorts. The 2012 SLK also features adjustable air stops mounted to the roll bars just behind the headrests. These air stops allow the driver and passenger to adjust exactly how much wind flows through the cabin.
The 2012 Mercedes SLK will be available with a 302-hp V6 engine in SLK350 form, but will also be available with a four-cylinder engine in the SLK250. Mercedes says that the 2012 SLK250 will get 27-mpg combined. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK will go on sale in the summer of 2011.
