The 2011 Jeep Compass has been redesigned to match the styling found on its big brother, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Following the Grand Cherokee’s styling cues, Jeep has given the 2011 Compass a new, more angular front end as well as a redesigned grill and a new rear end design. In addition to the exterior changes, the 2011 Jeep Compass will have the highest MPG rating of a small SUV (28 highway) and an improved interior.
The new 2011 Jeep Compass has also been given the off-road treatment. The 2011 Compass comes with Jeep’s Freedom Drive 4×4 system standard as well as an improved suspension with higher spring and damping rates and a thicker rear sway bar. With the Compass Off-Road package, the four-wheel drive system is upgraded to the Jeep Freedom Drive II system. With the Off-Road package, Jeep says that the 2011 Compass earns the company’s trail-rated badge.
The 2011 Jeep Compass is available with two different engine choices. Lower-end models will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158-hp and 141 lb-ft. of torque with a 29-mpg highway rating. More expensive Jeep Compass models will get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 172-hp and 165 lb-ft. of torque. The more powerful Compass engine will have MPG ratings of 23 city and 28 highway.
