The 2011 Honda Insight hybrid is less expensive than the 2010 model. Honda has priced the base Insight at $18,950, down from $20,510. The Honda Insight’s base price is now $2,450 less than the Toyota Prius’ base price. Honda has removed some features from the base Insight to reach the new lower starting price, but has also added a few features that weren’t available on last year’s model.
In order to cut the price of the budget-oriented 2011 Honda Insight LX, some features have been removed. The base Insight no longer has a navigation system or Bluetooth connectivity standard. Honda also removed two speakers, leaving the 2011 Insight LX with just two. The 2011 Honda Insight LX also uses less expensive seat fabric than most models. According to Autoweek, no safety features were removed from the Insight LX in order to save money.
Honda has actually added a few features to the less expensive Insight LX. The 2011 Insight LX now comes with cruise control, a USB interface for audio, remote entry, automatic climate control, power windows, an adjustable steering column and floor mats standard. Honda also added stability control to all Insight models. In 2010, stability control was only available on EX models.
The 2011 Honda Insight comes with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a hybrid electric system that has been rated at 40-mpg city and 43-mpg highway.
