The 2012 Mazda 5 will go on sale in January 2011. Mazda has released pictures of the updated Mazda 5 that show a much more stylish small minivan than the 2010 model it will replace. The 2012 Mazda 5 will have a starting price of $19,990.
The 2012 Mazda 5 will have three different trim levels available. The Mazda 5 Sport will be the base model, but unlike some base models that start just under $20,000, the 5 will not be stripped down to make the low starting price possible. Sport models will come with stability control, tire pressure monitoring, side curtain airbags and an MP3 player-ready stereo system.
The 2012 Mazda 5 Touring will start at $21,990 and includes an automatic transmission, 17-inch alloy wheels and Bluetooth connectivity.
The top-of-the-line 2012 Mazda 5 Grand Touring will cost $24,670 and adds a moon roof, automatic on/off headlights, heated side mirrors and front leather seats.
All 2012 Mazda 5 models are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 157-hp and 163 ft-lb of torque. Mazda has not yet released fuel economy figures for the 2012 Mazda 5, but the 2010 model is rated at 21-mpg city and 27 highway with an automatic transmission, so expect similar economy from the new updated engine.
