Chrysler has released a list of all 130 dealerships that will sell the 2012 Fiat 500. The 2012 Fiat 500 will be aimed at urban markets where small cars are gaining popularity, so Chrysler has picked specific dealerships to carry the Fiat 500 based on proximity to urban centers as well as the dealership’s ability to provide customers with a specialized buying experience.
The 2012 Fiat 500 (pronounced Cinquecento only when you’re trying to pick up a girl) will start at $15,500 and will come with a four-year, $50,000 warranty. Chrysler says that dealerships are ready to take orders for the 2012 Fiat 500. You can build your own right now at www.fiatusa.com.
The Fiat 500 will be powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 101-horsepower and 98 lb-ft of torque. That doesn’t sound like much when compared to the engines available on other small cars like the Ford Fiesta, which comes with 140-hp, but the Fiat is a light car designed for scooting around city streets, not comfortably cruising at high speeds on the highway.
The 2012 Fiat 500 will compete with the Ford Fiesta and Mazda 2, which are tiny but well-appointed cars. The Fiat offers something that the larger and more functional Fiesta and the sporty Mazda 2 don’t. It’s the only particularly good looking car available for about $15,000, and that should make it popular.
