Ford wants to convince truck buyers that a V6 engine can handle all of their needs. To do this, the company is bringing a new 2011 Ford F-150 with the 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6 to homes around the country to let potential buyers put it through their own real world tests.
Ford, as well as Chevy and Dodge, have always offered V6 engines in their half-ton models (F-150, Silverado 1500, Ram 1500) as a price point model. Typically, the V6 models have been non-options for buyers who need to use their trucks for work or any other serious use like towing or hauling. With the new F-150 EcoBoost V6, which makes 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, Ford is setting out to change that.
Ford knows that buyers won’t be easily swayed from the deep seated belief that bigger is better, so the company is bringing a new F-150 EcoBoost to customers’ homes to do all of the things that a V8 engine would normally be required for.
The 2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost will be touring the country from November to January. If you’d like to test the new F-150 to see if the turbocharged V6 can handle what you use a truck for, you can sign up for a test drive at www.drivef150ecoboost.com.
