Ford will debut a customized version of the Ford Taurus Police Interceptor at SEMA, but pictures of the car have been revealed ahead of time. The Taurus Police Interceptor Stealth is completely blacked out for a cool under-cover look. Ford’s designer who created the Taurus Interceptor Stealth says that he was inspired by the original stealth aircraft, the SR-71 Blackbird, according to Autoblog.
The Ford Taurus Police Interceptor Stealth is blacked out from front to back and rides on 22-inch black wheels. The suspension on the Interceptor Stealth has been lowered one inch and the car uses wider wheels in the back for a very aggressive look. Hidden police lights allow the under-cover cruiser to patrol unnoticed, and a reworked interior keeps all of the police equipment hidden from the untrained eyes.
The blacked-out Taurus Police Cruiser concept shows off the visual customizations possible with the new Taurus that do not require massive amounts of body work. The SEMA show is usually filled with outrageous custom cars, but the Taurus Stealth can be built out of a standard Ford Taurus Police Interceptor without spending tens of thousands of dollars.
The Ford Taurus Police Interceptor is based on the new 2011 Ford Taurus and will go on sale when the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is retired in late 2011.
