Subaru has announced the changes to the new 2011 Subaru Forester. In addition to an upgraded exterior, the new 2011 Forester will get a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and new trim levels with a variety of new features, according to Autoblog.
New 2011 Subaru Forester models with the base, non-turbocharged engine will get Subaru’s updated 2.5-liter engine, which has the same horsepower rating and only four more ft-lbs of torque than the old engine, but makes power lower in the rev range for better acceleration. The new engine will also get better gas mileage with ratings of 21-mpg city and 27-mpg highway. The turbocharged engine will stay the same for the 2011 model year.
The Subaru Forester is now available in base (either named X for naturally aspirated models or XT for turbocharged ones), premium and touring trims.
Most new features on the 2011 Forester are on the Forester touring model, which comes with HID headlights with automatic height adjustment, a backup camera, dual zone climate control, electroluminescent gauges and turn signal on the side mirrors.
Some of the additions to the 2011 Forester are surprising, not for their innovation, but because they should be standard equipment already. Both the premium and touring models will get auto-up and down driver’s windows, which should be standard features on every model and every window at this point.
