The 2011 Mazda 2 is on sale now, and Mazda is celebrating the launch of its smallest car by offering a Facebook game called DriverVille to anyone who wants to “tap your inner driver.” The Mazda 2 is the sporty option in the subcompact segment, so appealing to young drivers who want to enjoy the curves in the road but can’t afford a sports car seems like a pretty smart move. Mazda is also giving away a free Mazda 2 in a sweepstakes available at the company’s Facebook page.
The 2011 Mazda 2 is available on dealer lots right now, and starts at $13,980. Mazda has some tough competition in that price range from the Kia Soul, Nissan Cube and the recently released Ford Fiesta. The Mazda 2 is the only car in the price range focused on being fun to drive (even though its 100-hp engine isn’t exactly a powerhouse), so it gives buyers without lots of money an option that isn’t boring from the driver’s seat.
If you’ve used Facebook, you’re probably familiar with Farmville, a game that allows users to build their own farm and show it off to their friends. Mazda’s DriverVille looks to be pretty similar, and if it’s anywhere near as addicting as Farmville, the new game should be popular.
