Land Rover has revealed its new Range Rover Evoque small luxury SUV. The Range Rover Evoque focuses more on luxury than the off-road capabilities the Range Rover is legendary for. When it goes on sale in Europe next summer and the United States in fall of 2011, the Evoque will be Land Rover’s smallest model.
The Range Rover Evoque will be a two-door coupe SUV, based on the Land Rover LR2‘s platform but sharing less than 30 percent of its components with Land Rover’s current smallest SUV, according to Autoweek. The Evoque will also be the most fuel efficient model in the Land Rover stable, though the company has not announced the expected gas mileage.
The Range Rover Evoque will come with four-wheel drive, but it will probably be used more for getting out of snowed-in parking spaces than climbing muddy hills. Land Rover wants 50 percent of Evoque buyers to be women, and with the stylish two-door body, is targeting the SUV more toward fashion conscious females than hockey stick and labrador haulers.
The Range Rover Evoque’s introduction yesterday was just a teaser. A full reveal of the luxury SUV will come at the Paris motor show in September. Land Rover has not shown the Evoque’s interior yet, but rest assured that it will be in keeping with the company’s reputation for luxury.
