The Suzuki Kizashi is being recalled to fix a safety issue with its glove box. The Suzuki Kizashi’s glove box can open during a crash and possibly come into contact with a person in the front passenger seat.
Announcing a safety recall over a glove box opening up during a crash seems a little silly. If you’ve just been t-boned by a pickup, is your first thought going to be about the glove box and your prized collection of assorted fast food napkins? The Kizashi glove box’s tendency to open during an accident makes it non-compliant with federal safety laws, so a recall is necessary. Motor vehicle safety standards mandate that all of the pieces of a car’s interior have to stay closed in an impact, so the NHTSA has issued a recall on 5,107 Kizashi models, according to Autoblog.
The 2010 Suzuki Kizashi is Suzuki’s first attempt to follow Hyundai’s footsteps and change its image from that of a budget brand to a low-cost luxury brand. This recall shouldn’t affect Suzuki’s chances of doing that with the Kizashi. The Kizashi is well-equipped, and is actually one of the better looking cars in its class.
The Kizashi starts at $18,999. During June, the Kizashi was available with a 0% interest rate financing incentive for 48 month loans. The Kizashi could also be leased for just $199 a month. Expect Suzuki to offer similar deals in the coming months.
