All Lincoln cars and SUVs sold before Labor day will come with three years of free scheduled maintenance. As Ford prepares to close down the Mercury brand, Lincoln will try to entice some of those buyers to move up market by offering to pay for all maintenance for three years or 45,000 miles.
Lincoln’s free scheduled maintenance incentive will include all oil changes, tire rotations and all scheduled inspections of the first three years. Lincoln will also replace any wear and tear items like wiper blades or brake pads for free.
Lincoln also plans to overhaul its lineup over the next four years. The company promises seven new or significantly updated vehicles over that time period. Lincoln says that it wants to compete with Cadillac and Lexus. In order to do that, Lincoln vehicles will need to be set apart from Ford cars and SUVs. Right now, many of Lincoln’s models not only share a mechanical base with vehicles found in Ford’s lineup, but they also look alike.
Over the next four years, Lincoln will sell a small car for the first time ever and will make Ecoboost technology, which uses turbocharging and direct injection for excellent fuel economy and power, available in every vehicle.
Ford announced recently that the Mercury brand, which has not sold well in recent years, will be closed down for good. Mercury was started in 1939, but currently does not have any vehicles or features that are unique to the brand.
