Volkswagen has revealed the all-new sixth generation Volkswagen Jetta. The 2011 Jetta will start at about $16,000 and focuses more on luxury than the utilitarian Golf it shares mechanical parts with.
The 2011 VW Jetta will have four engines available. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel, as well as the 2.5-liter five-cylinder and 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engines are carryovers from the current generation of the VW Jetta. New for 2011 will be the 2.0 TSI engine, a four-cylinder engine that has both a supercharger and a turbocharger. Combining a supercharger and a turbocharger on one engine will give 2011 VW Jetta TSI models excellent low-end grunt as well as lots of power high up on the tachometer.
The 2011 VW Jetta is completely redesigned inside and out. The new Jetta is 3.5 inches longer than the last generation. Because of that, leg room has gown by 2.6 inches to 38.1 inches. If you’re interested in customization, the interior accents on 2011 Volkswagen Jettas can be switched out at a dealership for a different look.
The new generation of the VW Golf went on sale for the 2010 model year, so the look of the new Jetta isn’t exactly a surprise. The 2011 VW Jetta is better looking than last year’s model though. If you’re shopping for a Jetta, right now may be the best time, as dealers may be willing to cut you a great deal to get rid of their 2010 inventory to free up space for the incoming 2011 models. It may also be worth waiting a few months. When the new generation goes on sale you’ll be able to get a better deal on any leftover 2010 models, if there are any, or buy the new 2011, which will have a higher resale value down the road.
