Ford has added stocks quotes, movie times, horoscopes and travel features to the company’s SYNC service. Ford’s SYNC update will be available to any Ford owner whose SYNC is equipped with the TDI Traffic, Directions and Information application.
Ford’s SYNC TDI is available only on 2010 and 2011 vehicles, and uses Microsoft’s Tellme to connect to a computing cloud using a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone. Using cloud computing allows SYNC TDI users to get up-to-the-minute information on traffic, get driving directions or find local businesses.
The Ford SYNC hands-free media and communication system uses voice commands to change radio stations, make phone calls, control MP3 players and even read text messages so that the driver never needs to move his or her focus from the road.
Ford SYNC TDI users can now request stock quotes, horoscopes and movie times through the voice-activated system. Stock lists and horoscopes can be customized online to save time while in the car. SYNC now allows users to be automatically connected to airlines, hotels and rental car agencies to book travel.
Ford SYNC has been available since 2008 on select Ford vehicles, and is now available on almost every model from Ford, Lincoln and Mercury. The 2008 and 2009 Fords with SYNC aren’t capable of using the TDI application.
