Chrysler and Fiat plan to build a four-door wagon version of the tiny Fiat 500. The Fiat 500 two-door hatchback will go on sale in America in 2010. The stylish subcompact has been popular in Europe. Rumors of the larger four-door 500 coming to America have circulated, but have not been confirmed by Fiat until now, according to Autoweek. No date has been set for when the four-door Fiat 500 will be on sale in the U.S.

The two-door Fiat 500 will be built in Chrysler’s Toluca, Mexico manufacturing plant starting at the end of this year. Four-door Fiat 500 wagons, which will be longer and wider than the two-door models, will be manufactured in Turin, Italy and shipped to America. Fiat 500 wagons will also have a glass roof that allows natural light into the cabin.
The Fiat 500 wagon will be the third addition to the 500 line after the subcompact goes on sale. First, the convertible Fiat 500 will be added in 2011. Next, the Fiat 500 Abarth will go on sale. Abarth is Fiat’s performance division, similar to Ford’s SVT line or the BMW M division. After those have successfully launched, Fiat will put the four-door 500 on sale.
