Mercedes-Benz has officially announced that there will be a coupe version of the C-Class entry-level luxury car in the 2011 model year, according to Autoblog. The 2011 C-Class coupe will be made at Mercedes’ Bremen manufacturing plant alongside the sedan and wagon models. Mercedes doesn’t export the C-Class wagon to the United States, but it probably will sell the more attractive coupe here.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe is built on the C-Class platform and is almost exactly the same size as the C-Class sedan. The C-Class coupe will probably be smaller than its sedan counterpart in order to differentiate it from the more expensive E-Class Coupe.
The E-Class coupe sells for just about $600 less than its sedan counterpart, so expect the C-Class coupe to follow suit and just about match the sedan’s starting price, which is $33,600 for the 2010 model. The C-Class coupe will probably match the sedan’s engine choices too, with a C300 coupe acting as the base model and a more expensive C350 coupe offering a more powerful and better appointed option. It’s a given at this point that Mercedes’ performance division AMG will throw a monster V8 into the C-Class coupe shortly after it goes on sale.
