Infiniti unveiled the new 2011 QX56 at the New York Auto Show today. The QX56 will cost $56,700 for a two-wheel drive model and $50,800 for four-wheel drive, according to Motor Authority. Production for the 2011 QX56 has moved from the plant in Mississippi, where in previous years the full-sized luxury SUV was built alongside its twin, the Nissan Armada, to Japan.
The new Infiniti QX56 will be based on the Nissan Patrol, a competent off-road truck that competes with the Toyota Land Cruiser in most parts of the world. The QX56 will feature the Hydraulic Body Motion Control system from the Patrol, which keeps body roll to a minimum without the use of stiff springs and shocks. The 2011 QX56 will also have an automatic air leveling system to keep the truck from sagging under heavy loads.
The 2011 QX56 will be powered by a 400-horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 engine coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The 2011 QX56 will be able to tow 8,500 lbs. The 2011 Infiniti QX56 will also get 10 percent better fuel economy than the 2010 model.
