Toyota has announced that it will bring its microcar the iQ to the United States. Toyota’s Smart Fortwo fighter will be called the Scion iQ in America, according to Autoblog. The Scion brand was formed to be Toyota’s quirky, youth-focused brand, so the iQ will fit in perfectly.
The iQ will go on sale for the 2011 model year and is designed to compete with the Smart Fortwo. Since the larger Scion XD costs about $15,500, only $1,500 more than a decently equipped Smart Fortwo (have you ever tried to defrost a car’s windows without using the air conditioning? No one in their right mind would buy a car without it), the iQ should be priced to beat the Smart car. The Scion iQ will come with 10 airbags, including the world’s first rear airbag.
Toyota hasn’t officially announced the Scion iQ’s pricing, or any of the technical details, but Autoblog expects the microcar will have gas mileage in the high 30s.

The interior of this iQ is pretty nice, like the ForTwo’s. I think its success depends on the MPG as it is certainly better looking than a Smart car.
