Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the convertible version of the E-Class. The E350 and E550 convertible models will join the sedan and coupe E -Class cars to give Mercedes an almost full set of every possible body style in the E-Class. All that will be missing is the unwanted-in-America wagon body.
The E350 and E550 convertibles will go on sale in May 2010, according to Kicking Tires. The newest Benz will feature Mercedes’ Airscarf, which is a set of vents built into the seats that blow warm air onto the necks of the driver and front-seat passenger.
The E350 convertible will come with a 268-horsepower V6 engine, and the E550 will have a 382-hp V8. Other than the horsepower difference, there will probably not be much reason to pick the E550 convertible over the E350. Mercedes cars are known for being well appointed, so the more expensive E550 convertible model will most likely only have a few more standard features than the E350, and it’s a good bet that all of those will be available on the E350. With high-end cars like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the extra cost of the largest available engine will usually not translate to much more in resale value. So you’re better off settling on the V6-powered E350 convertible, if you can make do with just 268 horsepower of course.
