Hummer is in a bad place right now, as sales are down 64% compared to last year. Just like Saab, GM’s other recently sold brand, Hummer dealers are having a tough time getting enough vehicles to fill their lots. Automotive News says that there are only 1,300 Hummers at dealerships right now, compared to 7,400 last year.
Sichuan Tengzhong will inherit plans for the new Hummer H4 from GM. Autoblog believes that the H4 will be very closely related to the HX concept that was unveiled at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. If that’s true, it will be the first competition for the Jeep Wrangler since the compact but lovable Suzuki Samurai was discontinued. Hummer’s CEO also suggested that an H5 may be in the works, which would help the company meet CAFE standards, and would probably fall close to the dimensions of the Samurai.

Where will the H4, H5 be built? Shreveport, Louisiana? Are the Chinese buying the GM plant there in 2012? That would be great for that area.
