Just days after revealing their new Rogue Krom to the world, Nissan has issued a recall on 163,659 Rogues from 2008 and 2009. The Rogues being recalled could lose steering control thanks to a screw that was apparently not tightened properly at the factory.
A screw in the steering gear housing could work itself lose and fall out, which would cause some loss of steering response, but still be controllable. However, once the screw is out, a large steering input could cause the pinion shaft to leave the steering gear and cause a complete loss of steering control.
Nissan will be contacting Rogue owners to let them know if their vehicle is covered under the recall, but you can call them at 1-800-647-7261 if you’re interested. You can also see the NHTSA’s official writeup of the recall here.
