Toyota has been busy this year. First, the affordable FT-86 was revealed, and now the anything-but-affordable Lexus LF-A supercar has been unveiled. Apparently Toyota has been listening to all the complaints that its lineup is made up of transportation appliances rather than passionate cars. The gorgeous Lexus LF-A is anything but an appliance, even though you can order it to match your dishwasher, since the car will be custom painted for each buyer. Lexus says the price for the LF-A will be between $350,000 and $375,000, depending on the Yen to U.S. dollar conversion rates.
The Lexus LF-A will have a carbon fiber reinforced plastic body to keep the car’s weight to just 3,263 lbs, about the same as a Volkswagen Jetta. The LFA’s engine will have 10 individual throttle bodies on its 4.8 liter 552 horsepower V10 engine, which is not only a really cool feature, but will also ensure that you’ll be able to commiserate with Ferrari and Lamborghini owners about maintenance costs in 10 years. The LF-A will go 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds will have a top speed of 172 mph. Your refrigerator certainly can’t do that.
Because the LF-A is a Lexus, and a very expensive one, you can rest assured that the interior hasn’t been overlooked. In addition to comfortable leather seats, carbon fiber accents and other very fancy things, a huge center console runs between the driver and passenger. The giant center divider, in addition to making you feel like you’re in a fighter jet, houses a user-friendly “infotainment” system that will let you control the CD player and the navigation system. If the photos are truthful, the interior of the LF-A will be available in red leather, which is undeniably awesome.
