The Texas State Fair is the place to be if you’re a truck lover. Last week, the new Toyota 4Runner was shown off, and this week, Ford unveiled the 2011 Super Duty pickup. The newest Ford truck will feature two new engines, a new console with lots of storage room and a revised grill that’s even more overstated than the current model’s.
The 2011 Ford Super Duty’s two new engines will be a 6.2-liter gas motor and a 6.7-liter Powerstroke diesel. The diesel engine is the more important of the two. Most heavy duty pickups are sold with diesels, and Ford has a lot of ground to make up in the public eye after the last generation Super Duty’s diesel problems.
Ford says that the new console on 2011 Ford Super Duty pickups will offer more than 70 different configurations for the most versatile storage system in the class. Ford designed the 2011 Super Duty’s console to be capable of serving as an office on the go for contractors and other professionals who need a heavy duty truck but also have paperwork to do.
Ford’s exterior changes to the Super Duty are designed to make the already gigantic truck look even bigger. With a grill big enough for a semi, it really seems like Ford is aiming for the little kid inside every truck buyer who needs to say “mine’s bigger!”
That’s one hell of a Schnozz.
